OVERVIEW
A smart home monitoring system that combines an ESP32-CAM and a PIR motion sensor to improve home security and convenience. The PIR sensor detects movement, and the ESP32-CAM supports the system in analyzing and responding to activity, with notifications sent when something is detected. With its ability to detect, analyze, and respond to activities intelligently, the system offers a more adaptive solution to safeguard homes and their occupants. The firmware was developed in Arduino IDE and the device was built into a compact enclosure.
THE CHALLENGE
- Motion detection had to trigger the camera and notification quickly enough to be useful.
- The device had to be compact and self-contained so it can be placed easily inside a home.
THE SOLUTION
- Used the PIR sensor to detect movement and trigger the ESP32-CAM.
- Developed the firmware in Arduino IDE to coordinate detection, camera, and notification.
- Sent notifications when motion is detected so users are informed right away.
- Assembled the components into a compact enclosure and tested the system.
